Ferrari Press Agency Perry 1 Ref 14336 31/10/2022 See Ferrari text Pictures must credit: ABC News Friends star Matthew Perry has told how he got hooked on booze after downing a bottle of wine in his early teens.And his dependence on drugs came after being given prescription pain killers following a jet-ski accident.The 53-year-old made the revelations in an emotional TV interview to promote his new autobiography, titled Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing.Perry, best known as Chandler in Friends, told US journalist Diane Sawyer on the ABC News network he had never had a drink before downing the wine when he was just 14.Recalling the experience, he said:” I lay in the grass and was in heaven.“I thought to myself, ‘This must be the way normal people feel all the time.’“By the time I was 18, I was drinking every day.”He said he began taking prescription pain medication in 1997 after a jet ski accident while he was filming the movie Fools Rush In.
