Somnul este legat de frumusete si sanatate
Pastrarea frumusetii si a sanatatii inseamna si sincronizarea ritmului veghe-somn, pentru ca insuficienta somnului devine evidenta pe chip.
In timpul somnului se secreta hormoni, cum e cel de crestere la copiii, mai ales in faza profunda, care la adulti au un rol important in cicatrizare, refacerea fracturilor, diminuarea colesterolului sangvin si prevenirea aparitiei ridurilor. Tot atunci se produc si prolactina, insulina pancreatica – care regleaza glucoza din sange.
Somnul e format dintr-o alternanta de cicluri. Aceste cicluri au in medie lungimi de o ora si un sfert si se desfasoara in felul urmator: faza de adormire, faza “lenta” sau somnul profund, cand activitatea electrica a sistemului nervos e lenta; faza de somn paradoxal sau a viselor, cand activitatea electrica e caracterizata prin ritmuri rapide, de intensitate slaba; corpul e inert; faza somnului profund, care permite recuperarea si refacerea unor structuri celulare; faza somnului superficial, in care simturile redevin active si putem receptiona mai usor zgomote, mirosuri etc. care ne pot trezi; corpul e animat de miscari, mai ales ale extremitatilor. Urmeaza din nou somnul paradoxal.
Visul se considera ca elibereaza, “curata” inconstientul de dorinte refulate sau griji. Altii spun ca influenteaza chiar si creativitatea sau combativitatea si reprezinta cheia unor probleme cotidiane importante.
In jur de 13% din populatia Europei doarme prost, iar 10% doarme “ajutata”, adica ia regulat hipnotice si tranchilizante. La unii cauzele sunt preocuparea obsesiva legata de o stare de criza. In aceste situatii se pot prescrie de medic hipnotice pentru o perioada nu mai mare de trei saptamani, perioada care se considera ca nu se creeaza dependenta si faciliteaza doar trecerea peste criza. De asemenea relaxarea dirijata, psihoterapia sunt eficiente, mai ales pentru ca insomnia sa nu se cronicizeze sub influenta unor factori de stres sau de anxietate.
Persoanele in varsta au un somn mai dificil, care nu trebuie sa-i sperie intotdeauna. Este vorba de “lacune” sau somn fragmentat, care, chiar daca durata globala a somnului nu a fost diminuata, le creeaza impresia unei nopti de nesomn, mai ales daca toata viata au dormit “bine”.
O alta perturbare se caracterizeaza printr-o noapte mediocra, urmata de o zi dificila, cu somnolenta, specifica mai ales celor care sforaie, celor care sufera de depresie sau care iau unele medicamente antihipertensive sau fac abuz de hipnotice ori medicamente cu efect excitant cortical. Si cei care fumeaza mult, beau alcool tare seara ori coca cola au un somn agitat, cu intreruperi, ca si partenerii celor care sforaie. Altii nu pot dormi din cauza durerilor reumatice, iar la unii varstnici perturbarile somnului prevestesc instalarea unor boli ale sistemului nervos (precum Alzheimer sau depresia).
Cum tratam insomnia?
Cea mai simpla metoda de a recupera o noapte agitata este de a ne face timp pentru relaxare si somn dupa-amiaza – cel putin o jumatate de ora. Pentru a adormi usor trebuie sa ne cream conditii placute: intuneric, caldura, aerisirea camerei, o muzica placuta, o lectura placuta care sa ne “rupa” de propriile probleme, evitarea consumului de excitante corticale, cafea, cola, uleiuri volatile puternice – mentol, eucalipt etc.
Multi fac greseala de a consuma alcool inainte de culcare, in ideea de a-si induce o stare de somnolenta; chiar daca adorm, acestia se confrunta apoi cu fenomenul de rebound, adica dupa o perioada de relaxare, alcoolul devine excitant si acestia se trezesc, adormind mai greu.
Medicii recomanda uneori somnifere sau hipnotice, la care trebuie sa apelam doar daca epuizam toate metodele neagresive, ceaiuri calmante (de valeriana, talpa gastii etc.), produse homeopatice si produse exclusive naturale (Sedinstant, Sedocalm sau Sedatif PC), culcarea la aceeasi ora, psihoterapie, presopunctura etc.
Unele barbiturice (Fenobarbital, Ciclobarbital, Extraveral) creeaza o obisnuinta rapida, adica trebuie crescuta doza pentru a ramane eficiente si unele pot scadea si eficienta pilulei contraceptive. Unii medici recomanda unele antialergice pentru efectele lor secundare sedative (Ketotifen, Zaditen, Hismanal, Theralene, Romergan etc) care sunt eficiente, dar contraindicate la cei cu glaucom sau probleme cu prostata. Benzodiazepinele sau alte produse inrudite (Nitrazepam, Gerodorm, Zopiclon, Stilnox etc.) se elibereaza doar cu reteta si nu se recomanda mai mult de trei -patru saptamani, pentru ca pot provoca dependenta, tulburari de memorie, concentrare, revenirea insomniei la oprirea administrarii.
